Soaring High

by Satish Verma   Jun 24, 2018

Ethics
takes a nap,
in a blink,
without qualms.

*

A jilted lover, like
a broken moon, takes
a jump from the hill.

*

In this twilight
who am I,
in this crowd of sinners?

Oh, another beautiful poem about purpose - one's purpose in life; the ultimate purpose of life; the world's purpose in our own life. I somewhere along the lines, found all these questions in this short and crisp piece. Built on the foundations of sad imagery, the verses take me into a very different world than what the poet himself feels - does poetry only make the poets help realize and put together their thoughts and feelings, or somewhere do we as readers take bits and pieces from them too in our minds, or do they just end up like piled up newspapers - read, abandoned and forgotten in our cupboards. Thank you.

So brilliant. I have been wrestling this question myself of late. You have carved this into the most beautiful question.
