I LOST YOU

by Wilson Chipangura   Feb 7, 2019

What if, I had tried to go inside?
But you said you were going to wait for me right here,
I always took your words to mean that exactly,
How did I miss the class of prank mistresses?
At least I could have learned that it was possible,
For you to also turn on me just like that.

Ooh I meant maybe my eyes could have seen you,
Taking notes from that imbecile tutor,
Whose spectacles always revealed concealed crookery,
That has spread like pandemic disease into her flock,
_(Yes you might be one too)_

Is it you that I saw fading away?
Trying hard to be happy but wryness forced friendship on you,
How did envy swallow all that fat you had?
My heart with no eyes sheds tears every moment now,
Watching as your back goes far from my sight,

What if I had bought the roses for you?
Those dark chocolates you said soothed your heart,
I always think you were going to be mine still the next evening,
Enjoying the spooking that I planned to give you,

You tried to check if I did care,
Only that I thought it meant I must disappear,
From you my heart torchbearer
I had become used to, like the changing seasons,

As you sunk into the oblivion,
I saw many eyes chasing you as if you were a thief,
Ready to pounce on you like a vulture,
That moment I realized the truth,
I LOST YOU.
