Gift of the Nile

by Larry Chamberlin   Apr 21, 2019

Inundation
When we met you flooded me with promise
could hardly catch breath for the emotions
deeper than a river and bearing rich humus
carrying more life than wide green oceans

Emergence
It settled to the point we found firmament
discovered fruitful ground in which to grow
this relationship and make it permanent
into fields abundant our love bestowed.

Summer
Much work it took to bring us to the sun
plowed through missteps cleared the way
joy gave way to peace from work well done
ripened ardor ages like wine in its cuvée.

All good things come to those who wait. Nice work, Larry.
