Sweetest Fate

by Nikki   Jun 19, 2019

Deceptions at its sweetest fate, she grew up with lilies in her hair and the wind sweeping her away she lived in the land of her imagination where she was loved with hearts of gold and could ride the waves to lands in untold stories. She never wandered towards the window of reality there her fate was not so sweet a monster of reality lurked in the shadows waiting to snatch her up every chance he got, waiting to break her down and tear her soul apart, sucking her very self worth out of her with every breath he took, she slams the window shut, at the sound of his voice the bright sunny sky in her magical land begins to turn dark with an ugly storm coming in the waves grow wicked and wild as they shove her back and forth her imaginary world is gone, reality is all she sees she falls down crying on her knees " daddy stop, please."

I got chills, from the title I thought this is going to be about sweet love or something. I am not also a fan of such forms of poetry. BUT!!! This time it worked, this felt heavy, just what it should be.
I am sorry if you have gone through something like this...
