Prickles

by Courtney   Jul 25, 2019

When I close my eyes the silence gets
LOUD and
TALL and
DARK
Purple and blue and smooth and flat
A wall just ahead

When I sit still the prickles begin
My reflexes twitchtwitchtwitch as the
Pins prick my skin from the outside
Everywhere, all at once.
My blood vessels wiggle and squiggle
My eyelids are heavy but I can't stop blinking

When my mouth is closed my teeth vibrate
Against my tongue
As fuzzy moss grows all over the surface
Wild and fast
Multiplying exponentially

When I breathe through my nose my chest gets
Squeezed so tight
Someone is holding my heart in their hands
I can feel their fear as they massage it
It doesn't remember the beat anymore

I love this and I love your description particularly of silence in the first stanza.

    All the very best
