Soul Train

by Joe Moore   Jul 12, 2004

Couldn't find the strength
to let my negatives expire
so God took me on a ride
to see my negative desire

so on the Soul Train
he bids me fair well
hoping my shortcomings
would find elsewhere to dwell.

but i was on the Soul Train
partying with no shame,
in the middle of girls gone wild
with Snoop dogg doing his thang

doing the robot to my emotions
the bump to my responsibilities
the cabbage patch with the judge
from these ladies saying it's me

shackles on my feet
can't help but dance
shackled like a freak
trade finance for romance

and the soul train line
just smiles you can't trust
their own souls undefined
still calling demons up for lust

my mind has been seized
caught by the bling
blinded by the booty
infected by the greed

we rode through Denial park
over off Fess up st.
eyes wide shut to the future
soul getting closer to the heat

dragging tail
destined to fail
to many years later
bad habits prevail

Conductor blows the whistle
Purgatory
one more stop

End of the line
a last chance to find
where my Soul Train eternally docks.
