You're Forgiven

by Walter   Oct 5, 2019

I send her a message
While I am at work
"Please don't be mad"
And felt like a jerk

"There's been a plan change
With dinner tonight
And I'm eating out
I hope that's alright"

An instant reply
That I received back
"Are you seeing your friends?"
Curiosity didn't lack

I replied and said "No"
But that's all I said
I wonder what she's thinking
Inside her sweet head

Time to leave work
To be with my date
I buy her some flowers
She'll appreciate

My phone vibrates
Another message received
I know it’s my wife
And she's sounding deceived

"When will you be home?
And who are you seeing?"
I suppose I can't blame her
She's just a human being

I reply and say "Sorry
This will have to wait
As I've just arrived
At the home for my date"

Now this is timing
When the doorbell I ding
My wife decides to call me
As my phone now rings

I wait before I answer
My date opens the door
And of course it's my wife
That I stand before

“These flowers are for you
And our dinner awaits
Yes tonight I’ll eat out
But of course you're my date!”
