A Christmas Story (Christmas Contest Entry)

by Everlasting   Dec 25, 2019

When Santa comes to visit it,
the clouds up high begin to knit
a coat of snow for him to wear.
The Wind then holds the coat with air
For him to walk the streets in it.

The people praise his spirit’s wit
with trees and lights so brightly lit.
They sing for him like every year
when Santa comes

The children write to him a list
then leave some goods for him to eat.
They go to bed with conscious clear
in such a rush and with loud cheers
just eager for the gifts they’ll get
when Santa comes

— sad reality. Christmas for so many children is about the gifts they’ll receive. Written for a Christmas Contest in the main forums. I modified the poem a bit.

A sad reality indeed, Lucero. The joy of Christmas for too many children is simply the horrific materialism of it. Anyway, great poem.

All the best and a very happy new year to you.
