This is written so beautifully. It's dark, but yet, I still see the sun within your words.

    Love this.

I keep reading this, because I can't get enough of it!

In two simple stanzas, you told a whole journey. I love the metaphor of this person being the sun, and as you went and battled through your own doubts and darkness, you were eventually able to come out and perhaps make that ascent into the sky. Into the light.

    This line is so unforgettable:

"But the world could not handle two suns"

^It reminds me of so many things. When two people are succeeding, at the best points of their lives, yet one of them doesn't lift the other up. There could be a sense of struggle. Of wondering how long it will keep going before someone burns out. Then, I also thought of how hard we try to be a light to others, but how we fade, how it's human of us. We try hard but we eventually need to rest. How others can blame us for coming between their goals, their vision, when all we wanted to do was adore them and be their biggest supporter.

Love your work, so much, Kate! :)

Thank you! At the time I used the line as a way of expressing how people around you can sabotage a relationship because they see it thriving but can’t handle it but I also appreciate the way you see it, needing rest. It is so hard to be a sun when you’re used to being a cloud.

It looks like a recollection of a relationship, friendship or kinship (I love how this poem and its sequel isn't specific that it is romantic love) that became so strong, but the strength collapsed in on itself abruptly, like maybe things went too far? It hits close to home for me over and over again.
