An encounter

An encounter

Once I met a day
That day smiled at me
We laughed together
And embraced life
With serene mind.

Until one morning
I was astonished
That its smile was a mask
That fell off, as a leaf
In Autumn grey sky.

And then that day frowned
It looked at me with anger
I spent my time in gloom
And out of my head
Black thoughts emerged.

Until one morning
I felt neutral
I didn't see a smile
I didn't see a frown
But I thought deeply.

And a mirror stood ahead
Where I saw my own self
Smiling when I smiled
And frowning when I I frowned
I knew then, it was me
It had always been me.
