Ignoring The Signs

by Walter   May 20, 2020

It was on this corner
The last place that they kissed
The last time which she held him
But now will only miss

Each time that she comes here
Her body tingles still
All her friends say to move on
But she never will

It's still all fresh in her mind
She relives it every day
Right from the moment he left her
She has it on replay

And she hates being told
"At least you two just met
It will be easier letting go
And soon you will forget"

But who are you to judge me?
And tell me what I should feel
To tell me it wasn't love
And none of this is real

She just ignores them all
This is why she comes back here
She knows so well that love
Is what makes her endear

But love's a powerful emotion
She also knows this well
How it can attract two people
And put them in a spell

She can see him now
The moment he walked to leave
If only she knew back then
How much that she would grieve

But he barely walked five steps
Not even out of sight
His face still turned around
Ignoring traffic lights

What she can't understand
Why love is so unkind?
When bringing two people together
But then just makes them blind

Suddenly it was loud noise
The screech and then the thud
That brought her back to reality
The screams and all the blood

But why does love do this?
An answer she'll never know
Forever waiting on this corner
Even when green light says go
