The Other Girl

by Taylor M   Dec 29, 2020

I don’t want to know her name
What her favorite color is
Or her favorite song
I don’t care if she dances in the mirror
It ceased to matter since the day you did me wrong

I don’t want to know if she can sing
Or if you have the same things in common
If she likes the same things you do
I don’t care if we’re polar opposites
She’s the one that you chose for you

I don’t want to know if she’s skinnier than me
Or if she’s prettier than me
The kind of car that she drives
None of that means a thing to me now
I’m the only one keeping me alive

I used to hate her for no reason
I would wish that you broke her heart
I prayed that you’d come back to me
It’s different now because I’m gone
And now I’m finally starting to see

I don’t want to know if she’s got tattoos
Or if she has a nose piercing just like mine
I could care less about the color of her hair
You wanted someone other than me
But if you change your mind, I won’t be there

I don’t want to know if she makes you happy
If she makes you laugh as hard as I used to
I don’t care if she lights up a room
Doesn’t matter to me if she’s got perfect teeth
But she came along way too soon

I don’t want to know about the other girl
The one who took your heart from my hands
The girl that makes you smile
I honestly couldn’t care less about her existence
And I don’t think I ever will, certainly not for a while

I used to want to know everything
About the other girl
The one who caught your eye
Now that I’ve let go and moved on
It’s my turn to say goodbye
