America

by Acacia   Feb 9, 2021

I hear America singing, the varied carols I hear
Tales of joy ringing off the rooftops
But sorrow shrouds the streets in gloom
I hear America singing, all songs welcome here
Whether the first cry of a baby
Or the last raspy breath of a dying elder
I hear America singing, each tale different
And yet they all tell the same story
A story of diversity
A story of change
But the same story all the same
