Falling for 'Love'

There is no higher mountain which I'll ever climb
This one's called 'Love' and has such a steep incline
And many people warned me, that the stakes are set so high
But the rewards are so amazing, when you touch the sky

At first I was rushing, to try and conquer 'Love'
And to reach this high, so many have spoken of
Taking the first path, which started not that steep
Though I was too confident and in great bounds I would leap

Quickly I found out, with 'Love' you cannot rush
As I slipped and fell, on rocks my heart would crush
And before I knew, I was back on level ground
Too sore to try again, before I came around

But now I had a taste, I wanted it even more
This time I'll be careful, unlike the time before
I found another path and gently would ascend
Having respect for 'Love', it soon became my friend

Although it took more time, again it soon got worse
Through a jagged climb, all I seemed to do was curse
This made 'Love' so mad, and again I'd lose my grip
And another painful fall to the bottom I would slip

I really started thinking....'Love's' not worth this pain
In fact I even doubted, that I'd try again
There is no other high, which could match it's thrill
But to reach the top, needs a certain type of skill

Again I was tempted and no longer could I wait
Though this time determined, not to end in such a state
I discovered another path, that I'd not seen before
And it wasn't too long after, my heart was wanting more

This path was so pleasant, as I took in all the views
Also many rests, each time my spirits grew
I started to learn with 'Love', you need to earn respect
And this climb can't be conquered, when treated with neglect

Before I even knew it, I had reached the peak
I had chosen the right path, that so many people speak
Although it was painful, this lesson you can't ignore
Because for 'Love' to be conquered, at first you have to fall...
