Around In Circles

Do you remember our first date
Roller skating in the rink
When we decided on a place
The first one you would think

I just smiled and looked at you
So embarrassed to admit
That I had never tried before
And most likely would just quit

You never accepted no from me
But urged me to just try
You promised that you would help
And be close standing by

I just loved your confidence
And patience on the floor
I loved the way you'd try to help
Whenever I would fall

I don't think I ever laughed
As much we did that night
And holding on for dear life
Your hand I held so tight

You would always try to coax
Convinced I was doing well
And I began to believe
The way you'd cast your spell

When my favourite song would play
We both were singing loud
And skating like we neither cared
In front of all the crowd

When the DJ shone the lights
As if we're centre stage
I don't think I ever felt
As much in all my age

And we were so lost for breath
Exhausted with gusto
But still holding on to hands
Not ever letting go

Looking back so long now
In circles we'd go around
Yet this the start of our new life
And boundless love we found

As a guy who writes mostly in rhyme this totally hooked me.

Lovely piece of work and thanks for sharing the memories.
