My Darling, Icarus

by El_Mabini   Feb 10, 2022

Dedicated to Mr. Cedric and Mr. Paco

I just told them who I want, your name escaped my mouth
Some were laughing, some were in doubt
But I knew you were the place I wanted to end up.
Hence, I have no reasons of turning back.

Damn, you made me feel like a dangerous man.
I took three hours’ drive from work to the beachfront.
As I watch you ending your daily weather program
The smile on my face was predominant

I hopped out the car and brought my gift for him to see.
My darling Icarus, then stood right in front of me.
With his cinnamon palms, I let him held me by my hand.
Like madmen, we ran through the ice-cold sand

The waves played with our hands and bare feet
Like how our fate tangled us to meet.
The bubbling waves mingled to our laughs,
Like whole bottle of red wine wasn’t enough

His ears to my chest, my lips to his forehead.
My darling, Icarus, danced with me to the rhythm.
Our heartbeats were the only melody needed.
It was a total carpe diem.

Dedicated to Mr. Cedric and Mr. PacoSome were open, some just gossiped.
Some decried, some were supportive.
One to millions of ups and down,
Yet our love always felt the first time around.

They may say were just lads, naïve and confuse.
Comparing us to the sun and Icarus.
Flying too near just to feel astound
Except we won’t fall to the sea and drown.

So, I took the chance to get on one knee.
My darling Icarus, stood right in front of me.
His eyes sparkled like the golden ring I was holding.
In that evening, I ask him, “Will you be my everything”
