I feel invisible,
Forgettable,
Like a time filler.
Like a bookmark,
In your life,
To hold a spot,
When you want.
You take me out,
Set me down,
And go on without me.
Then you put me back,
For however long,
Wedged between the pages.
I sit on that shelf,
Hoping you don't forget me,
I'm right where you can see me.
I'm sure I cross your mind,
When you walk on by,
But you don't reach for me.
One of these days,
I'll fall out of sight,
And you'll search for me.
That will be the day,
You won't find me,
And you never will again.
Will you remember,
The times you held me close,
And made me feel whole?
Or will I become,
A stranger that you pass,
With a familiar face?
