White pearl necklace

The beer was taking itself out of my system,
When I saw her across the street standing,
She faced into the dark alley, fearless.
And the moon shone on her white pearl necklace

Before I fall into my usual daze,
I heard her laugh full of grace.
Then I woke up in her arms of comfort
And found the serenity I’ve been looking for.

Too enticed by the calmness of the sea,
I forgot she hasn’t just the typical jewelry.
She was a majestic piece of art.
A white pearl, rarer than a 24 karat gold.

It took the leaves to fall down
When I found her again in my town.
With the same delicate walk and talk,
But by that time, she had smiled back.

She wasn’t pearl-skinned nor her hair is silky,
Though she perfectly resembled Madonna.
She wasn’t a typical garrulous young lady,
But a candid, benevolent Mona Lisa.

Blinded by the luster she brought to my life,
Eradicated facts of her lies in my love’s behalf.
I enjoyed sobriety she gave,
So I vowed to protect the secrets she saved.

I waited for the fall, where the pearls were ready,
To present her when I bent on one knee.
I may or may not know the events before me,
Still I risked all and remained trustworthy.

Along the package of eternal carnival,
Was her past and quirks of shoeboxes,
Which meaning, I wish was explicable.
However, all that mattered was her existence.
