Monster

by Kota the Unheard   Dec 15, 2022

He doesn't hide under my bed
Nor does he hide in my closet
He doesn't fear the light like they said
He hides in plain sight
I try to resist
With all my might

I hear his voice in my head
Taunting me
And dragging me down
Urging me on
Hoping I drown

I can sense his presence close by
Always lurking
But just on the edge of my sight
Making me question
If what I'm seeing is right
Sending shivers down my spine

I can feel his touch
Guiding my hand
Finger on the trigger
And lines in the sand
So rough and so cold
As his grasp on my soul
Finally takes hold

There are times I can see his face
The cold hatred in his eyes
Hope gone with no trace
And a smile
Mocking and false
It's been there a while

As l look into this mirror
It's plain to see
The Monster...
Is me...
