Missing Moments - Sonnet

by Walter   Aug 8, 2023

What does one do when love has lost its way
Where the only thing we share is the roof
We built our castle where we would both stay
Once homely but now silent and aloof

With no messages when you'll arrive home
Other than when hearing the front door slam
I'm wide awake with no clue where you roam
And your silence says you don't give a damn

All I can read are the digits that change
As I stare at the red glow of my clock
When reading your mind would never feel strange
But now attempts that I try you would block

How are we lost when we lay by each side
Where skin won't dare touch but our thoughts collide?

Hey, I really felt the emotion in your piece. The whole "castle" metaphor and that ending about being close yet so distant? Hits hard. Great job capturing the essence of a relationship on the rocks. Keep it up!
