Becoming Unraveled

I found a thread from what I wear
And now I am in quite despair
I do not know from where it fell
I try to look but cannot tell

The clothes I wear are coloured black
So is the thread I want to tack
No longer will I walk with grace
Because this thread I can't replace

I hold the thread tight with my hands
I'm getting mad and make demands
The thread does not cooperate
And leaves me in a far worse state

The thread increases in its size
Maybe pulling wasn't wise!
I know I've done something wrong
As now the thread is twice as long!

I turned to walk quickly home
But in the breeze the thread would roam
And then it tangled on a stick
While hurrying trying to make it quick

I began to run but should abort
Because my pants are getting short!
My home is close I am so near
Before my pants will disappear

I stop to cross a busy road
My pants about to erode
Walking slow and feeling stressed
And in the middle curb I rest

Panic sets when I turn around
I see my thread blow on the ground
An eighteen wheeler approaches fast
There's no way my thread will last

I run screaming towards my door
The pants I wear are now no more!
Relief and I am so happy
As hands are reaching for my key

But all I seem to touch is skin
Where my pockets should begin
That thread has taken all I own
My keys included and my phone!

I turn around and see them shine
Lying on the curb incline
And only in my underwear
I boldly go to walk out there

This is a lesson I must learn
If this same problem might return
Whenever you are out to travel
Don't ever let that thread unravel!
