Afraid to Sleep

by Good Enough   Sep 11, 2023

In the silence of the night, I lay my head,
Afraid to sleep, for nightmares fill my bed.
The demons within, they dance and play,
In the realm of dreams, they hold their sway.

Sleep, a refuge, now a realm of dread,
As I battle the shadows inside my head.
Their claws are sharp, their whispers sly,
No escape from the darkness that is nigh.

With every blink, the terrors persist,
No respite found in the realm of mist.
Afraid to close my eyes, to rest my mind,
To the nightmares, it seems, I'm confined.

I can't keep fighting, the odds are too steep,
For even when it's darkest, no hope may creep.
I'll seek the darkness to face the night's extremes,
Succumb to the demons that disrupt my dreams.
