Ethereal Desolation

by Jenavia L G   Nov 7, 2023

In the depths of my heart, a tale unfolds,
Of hurt, loss, and betrayal, the story it holds.
Once I was whole, content in my own embrace,
Until I gave myself to you, my love, my grace.

But you, my dear, took everything I had,
Leaving me with naught but memories sad.
With eyes so enchanting, casting a deceitful spell,
You appeared as a mirage, but time would tell.

I knew not to trust, to turn and walk away,
Yet I couldn't resist, and so I chose to stay.
Like a moth to the flame, my soul was drawn,
And as you drew near, darkness swiftly dawned.

Whispered in my ear, your lies beguiled,
Tickling my eardrums, truth forever defiled.
Upon my lips, your kiss unleashed demons' breath,
In that moment, I tasted the bitterness of death.

Laid me down gently, spine shivering in despair,
As you whispered sweet nothings, stripped me bare.
You took from me what once made me whole,
Now, I stand here empty, with an empty soul.

Your touch, once fiery, turned chilling like ice,
Yet, foolishly, I convinced myself of a false paradise.
But now I see, with clarity unfurled,
The warmth was an illusion, as cold as the world.

Though wounded and scarred, I rise from the dust,
Reclaiming my strength, leaving behind the unjust.
For in this journey of love, hurt, and pain,
My heart will heal, and I'll truly thrive again.

So, here's my ode to hurt, loss, and betrayal,
A testament to resilience, as I set sail.
Though you took everything, left me feeling bereft,
I'll rebuild my spirit, and find what is left.
