I Met June Again

by El_Mabini   Nov 29, 2023

I met June again,
On a sunny afternoon.
Though she wasn't the same,
As my mind had preserved her name.

Her ponytail turned to a wolf-cut mane,
Her glossy pink lips,
Stained velvet when she kissed
A man with a face unknown.

The girl I once knew,
Transformed into a 21st-century lady.
Should I be sad or happy for her?
I don't know; should I care?

I rue the day, sitting on the fence,
Contemplating whether to pursue her.
While she turned red
With a man full of confidence.

Now, when I met June again,
She's with an honest lad.
Unlike before, she's not blushing red.
She shines brighter than the sun and moon.
