A House is not a Home

by Walter   Mar 31, 2024

Although you chose to leave my house
With your belongings too
I cannot help but feel surrounded
By the ghost of you

What we own is not clear cut
And never a fine line
But still you chose to take it all
Including what is mine

All you left are these four walls
Your colours which now fade
The cracks which hid beneath the frames
Where once we would parade

Our pictures worth a thousand words
But now the wall is bare
And every time I'll look for you
I will only stare

Not only did you have to leave
But also cleaned the slate
And have taken all the love we shared
Which I did not donate

The only thing that you returned
Is my key which you would loan
Because you know when you walked away
That you would take my home
