Say You Love Me

by BOB GALLO   Apr 18, 2025

Love me
just for this fleeting breath,
that stretches long beyond our death,
a single drop
of endless sea,
a shard of time,
eternity.

Say you love me,
though silence grows,
though absence carves
its quiet throes.

Say you love me,
with your heart stripped bare,
before I melt
into thin air,
into these hollow, shapeless skins,
where meaning fades
and time begins
to peel the spell
of flesh and youth,
a fragile veil,
a vanishing truth.

Say you love me,
say that in your gaze,
I find the shore
through all my days.
For I can no longer feign or mend
this wound that has
no start, no end.

So love me now,
before I burst in,
still hiding this
eternal wound
within my paper-thin skin.
