We are not subjects.
We are not ruled.
We are not pawns.
We are not fools.
We stand united
For the values we hold true.
Because WE are the people,
And the people have power
Not some wannabe king in his ivory tower
We were told that the president
of the united states
would serve the people.
Not ask for parades
To celebrate and commemorate
his birthday and name.
Not take luxury jets
as a way to be paid
Or should I say bribed
By his dictator schemes on the side?
I pledge allegiance to the flag
Not to a man
Who lies and stabs
The Constitution in the back
And on our rights launches attacks
I pledge allegiance to our flag
Not to a man
who disappears neighbors
And calls whistleblowers traitors.
Who cashes in while the country burns
Who’s bought and sold while chaos churns
I pledge allegiance to our flag
Not to a man who profits off suffering
He spins the media
while the truth keeps buffering
Casting wide nets
Of hypocritical threats
Of deportations and arrests
Claiming he’s a patriot while firing vets
As a way to pay down our national debts?
Yet we’ve plenty of money for wars and parades
But not SNAP, WIC, or Medicaid?
But here we are.
Watching this clown revel in power,
treat the presidency like nothing more than a stage,
and the nation like a circus.
I’m enraged.
Are you engaged?
The Flag is a prop.
The troops are his toys.
The people? We’re an audience.
Expected to cheer, clap and make noise.
He wants not only allegiance.
He wants us to bow.
They want strict obedience.
They want us to cow.
