A Cry for Deliverance from the Flesh

by Christen Kuikoua   Aug 7, 2025

Lord, I cannot fight unless You fight for me.
I am no one unless Your grace upholds me.
I am ashamed when You do not give me courage.
Daily I contend not with men
But with my own flesh,
For it seeks to drag me into error, to destroy me from within.
Like David, I cry: Have mercy upon me, O God.
Remove from me every root that bears destruction.
Uproot what leads to death. Expose what hides in darkness.
I stand before You guilty.
I opened the door that gave the enemy ground.
I permitted what should have been cast out.
Cast me not away from Your presence.
Take not Your Spirit from me.
Cleanse me with Your hands, that I may be clean.
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Separate me from my shadows.
Separate me from my flaws.
Separate me, O Lord of my fathers, from my lust.
Let it not cause me to sin against You.
Let it not rise above Your voice in me.
Let it not rule where only You should reign.
Be ever before me, Lord. Go not behind.
Help me stand when I falter.
Strengthen me when I am weak.
You, O God, are my song.
You are my portion forever.
Let heaven rejoice,
For though I was unclean, You did not forsake me.
Blessed be the Lord,
Who sees the secret war
And delivers the one who cries out in truth.
