Prisoner of Your Love

by Jay Colon   Aug 12, 2025

Back against a wall
Silence isn’t a choice
Speaking isn’t an option
Every word misconstrued

You shower me with affection
for a while.
Time passes,
Your behavior shifts.

You act like you don’t want to lose me,
Yet break up with me every day.

I don’t beg.
I don’t try to change your mind.
Still, you stay,
pulling at the strings of my heart
until I’m frayed and unraveling.

Emotionally exhausted,
unwanted,
Yet you linger
slowly breaking me
until I feel insane.
I want the pain to go away.

My mind shattered
by your emotional abuse,
My love turned into a weapon
That tears me apart.

I fear what tomorrow will bring.
Flashbacks of the past
Remind me, I was a prisoner,
cut off from the world
because loving you
became my cage.
