Pure Silence

by Jay Colon   Aug 12, 2025

I let you stay
longer than you deserved.

Chance after chance—
I’m sorry, I’ll change.
I won’t do it again.

Except in seconds,
It was the same.

The pretty woman,
disguising her ugliness.

It’s gut-wrenching—
making you weak,
leaving you numb,
forcing you to look away.

She said,
I love you.

You could do whatever—
But you needed to be with me.
I am to be next to you.

Until you don’t recognize
Who you’ve become.

It’s taken your peace.
It’s taken your mind.
It’s taken your energy.
It’s taken your beauty.

Experiencing this ugly
steals all of you—
so badly you can hardly speak.

This ugly
can ruin you…
Only if you let it.

So let your words be heard.

No more arguing.
No more words.

No back and forth.

Tell her—
Goodbye.
I love you.

With pure silence.
