Like You Did

by Beautiful Tragedy   Jun 9, 2026

Sometimes the people who quietly change our lives don’t arrive all at once-
They come steadily and intermittent, like you did.
And you showed up in all of the ways that mattered;
Quiet enough not to spook me and steady enough for me to learn how to trust again,
Your presence was a blessing I wasn’t even sure I’d deserved.
Selfish men demanded things they weren’t safe enough for me to give them;
Always wanting the most vulnerable parts of me just to injure them in the end.
“I’ll never take it for granted.” You’d said,
And something so deep inside of my soul settled because you’re gentle enough that I believe you.
I’m catastrophically fond of you because-
Sometimes the people who quietly change our lives don’t arrive all at once.
They become part of the house before we even realize we’re home-
Like you did.
