Meet myself

by Beautiful Tragedy   Jul 5, 2026

I get to be unapologetically myself with you-
Chloroform jokes and shared poems,
You take everything in my life and make it lighter.
Laughter comes easier.
Happiness is no longer an abstract concept-
The light in my eyes returned and guided me down a path I didn’t realize was possible,
And I’m actually kind of fun.
I’m taking shower photoshoots with clothes on-
Rating ordinary things in the measurement of Klondike bars and sundress approved places;
And you are at my side laughing with me.
I don’t stare too long in the mirror anymore-
Your voice replaced ones of unfair critique and shallowness,
I do my hair and realize I’m actually really pretty.
And it’s been the quite the journey;
Learning to pick through the ashes that were left after the fire of someone else almost destroyed me but-
I often find myself falling in love with who I am because you gave me enough room to meet myself again.
