Dawn

by Overrated   Jul 30, 2026

Your heart was the ocean,
and my affection flowed like a river.
Though every current sought you,
your love remained a distant shore.

I became an umbrella
in another's storm,
never expecting to be held
once the skies grew clear.

I cared for you
the way mountains hold the snow,
without ever asking spring
to wait.

You were the moon,
faithful to the night;
I only wished to gaze upon you
until dawn embraced the sky.

The stars taught me
that not every light is meant to be reached.
Love is destined to illuminate,
but not always ours to keep.
