THE MOTHER WAITS

THE MOTHER WAITS

She is a mother with two daughters grown,
they will too soon be out on their own
when they are gone she worries all day,
wondering when they will come home to stay,
she misses them so much and waits all day long,
wanting to see them coming back home,
her days are so long now not much to do,
please bring the grandkids along with you,
when the grandkids are here playing all day long
it gladdens her heart and fills it with song,
it reminds her of the days long gone by,
when they go home a tear fills her eye,
then back to her window, where she'll wait once again,
no matter if sunshine, or pouring down rain,
she never gets tired of watching from there,
for her loved ones she knows will soon appear,
she loves her family grand kids and all,
and when they leave her , she just wants to bawl,
it gets so lonely in that big house you see,
mother is waiting for her kids, naturally.
