Daddy

by christie   Jul 30, 2004

I know how hard it must have been
always working to give me all I'd need
in my eyes you were the greatest of men
always trying to do the good deed

Your hand so gentle when I was sad
always there to lift me up
A hand so hard when I was bad
never afraid to light me up

in my mind you were ever so strong
you were the bravest man i knew
always there to push me along
and see my every day through

You always had to softest look
when I needed understanding
but you sure knew how to throw the book
when I needed reprimanding

And when it came time for me to leave home
you took my hand and said
"Go, see the world my child, and feel free to roam
Please lead by example as you have been led."

I'll never forget when I got the call
I was so very far away
I fell to my knees in the hall
and All I could do was pray

My Dear Lord please hear my cry
please tell my daddy I know
that all he ever did was try
to show he loved me so
