Part 2 His Nightmare

by Jacki   Aug 11, 2004

I was nestled so
comfortably
in bed with my wife.
Warmed by the light
of the fire.
On the cold winter night.

I started to dream
about a night
that would haunt
me.

Sometime ago
when I was married
to my first wife.
It was a storm
much like the
storm tonight.

I heard a knock
on my door.
And in-front of
me stood 2 cops.

They gave me
the news
that my wife
had ran off the road
and was found dead.

She was on her way
home from work
she always drives
so carefully.
How could this happen
Why would god
take her away from me?

So night after
night when the storm
shakes the house
so.
Warmed by the fire
in which had happened
many years ago.

I wake up at the
hour in which she
would of returned home.
awakened by the nightmare
that does not go away.

In my nightmare,
I dream
of her coming home,
Seeing us in bed
not knowing what
has gone wrong.

I hear the dishes
get thrown,
I hear her screaming
and hollering
NO!
The pictures being
thrown around,
all except for one.

Dropped to the floor,
by the stand it was
placed.
Facing the fireplace
above it our mirror.

This is where my
nightmare ends.
The screaming then
stops replaced
by a cold chill
and silence that plagues
the house.

But in my nightmares,
Deep within my dreams,
I often wonder if she
knows that a storm took
her life many years ago.
