Part 4 The Calm of the 10 year Storm

by Jacki   Aug 18, 2004

*before you read this poem you must read in this order How Long, His Nightmare, For 10 Years. This is the ending to my series. Thank you Hope you enjoy*

1

Sometime ago the story was
told how I killed my sister
on that horrible storm.

Nobody knew how
she ran off the road.
So the secret haunted
me year after year
when her ghostly figured
would return.

Now I tell you the ending
in hope of forgiveness.
For one day I hope
she will stop haunting us

2

Dear Husband of mine,
Many years ago on that
horrible storm,
I went to try to get help
and ended up running
your wife off the road.

My sister laid dead
buried in snow.
Blood that flowed from
her head.

I'm sorry I panicked
and I ran away.
Besides I was already
in love you long before
she laid dead.

At night when you woke
to the horrible nightmare
I know what you seen
because she peered
unto me.

She haunts us now.
Confused with her own
reality.
I would like to get this off
my chest for the pain
I can not bare any longer.

I hope one day you
will be able to forgive me
for the horrible sin that
I have now created.

3

The husband read the letter
that his wife left sitting upon
the bed.
The storm started brewing
the wind hit the house
banging the shutters violently.
The snow pulled up
like little tornadoes the swirled
around.
Chill set threw the air.

4

My wife did the ultimate sin.
I had to lock her away.
She murdered her sister
left me a widow.
How could she possibly
want me to forgive her?

Our children one day
will hopefully understand
why I had to leave there
mother.

Again on that night
when I seen the cops
return.
I lost my wife
again to the horrible storm.

Only she would not be dead
only dead to me.
Locked away hopefully
they will throw away the key.

I'll wait for my wife
of many years ago
to return to the doorway
in which she peered so many
times before.

Maybe she will join me,
maybe she can forgive
me for taking the hand
of the women that murdered
her on that horrible 10 year storm.

5

The clock struck 12.
Silence went threw the house.
She walked up the stairs
gliding her hand on the rails.

Walked up to her room
and seen her husband sleeping
so silently.
Her smile was of love.
She walked over to the bed.

Pulled back the covers
laid on her side
ran her hands threw his hair.
Then drifted off to sleep.

6

In the morning when he awoke
the storm had calmed.
Sunlight broke the grey clouds
that gathered over the house
for so many years.

He turned over in bed
but it was empty.
But he knew that her spirit
finally was put to rest.

His wife in jail
for the murder of her
sister.
For the murder of her
poor beautiful wife.

And in the end
when all the secrets
came out.
That horrible 10 year storm
never came back.

Beautiful. If I were judging it in a contest, I would give it a perfect score, hands down. The whole story was just excellent and I'm inspired!
