Innocence

I understand life has treated you bad,
I know you've had it tough.
I know you've had to walk alone,
And deal with all that stuff.

But life had made me innocent,
Life had treated me well.
I've never had the trials you had,
Or lived a private hell.

Now that innocence is going,
It's fading into the past.
Because my belief that life is good,
Was never going to last.

Now I know that life is pain,
I've had to open my eyes and see.
But sometimes I wish I had a little,
Innocence left in me.
