This Rose (revised)

by Timothy   Sep 8, 2004

A token of my love,
In the form of this seemingly meaningless, little flower;
It is an ancient ritual,
With amazing amorous power.

There are not adequate words,
To convey what my heart is going through;
But with this gaze of admiration,
I hold the token out to you.

This rose will not last forever,
It will surely wilt and die;
But know my loyalty to you will remain long after,
And NO ONE has loved you more than I.

Footnote and update: I gave my girlfriend a yellow rose and with it this poem recently. She is very special to me, and it meant a lot to see in her eyes that my expressing my love worked so well!
