This Place I Survived

by xCrImSoNxTeArSx   Sep 8, 2004

One foot on the ground
Shivers begin to run down my spine
All the memories flood my mind
Flashes of the past
Of a place of war and terror

Butterflies tickle inside of me
Freezing at the sight of a soldier
Feelings rushing through my body
Runing like a waterfall
So many feelings I haven't felt

This place, my home
Has changed for the worst
I walk down a desolate street
Where there was once happiness
Torn apart by war
Families forced from their homes

So I stand here
Looking at what was a house of laughter
Love from wall to wall
Now all that's left is an abandoned home

One step in the door
And tears begin to stream down my cheeks
Nothing has changed
As I walk around the house
I remember times of happiness
And times of sorrow

This place, my past
My home now empty
My country still stricken by war
I survived it all
And now I'm back
