Enduring Freedom

by Michael D Nalley   Sep 8, 2004

I think liberty is the mother of free enterprise
And that is why it should not have came as any surprise
That the masters of terror did realize
The symbol that many Americans idolize

So in ignorance they set out to destroy
The symbol of freedom that we enjoy
But what they really failed to realize
Is, our strength lies not in what we symbolize

Yes indeed, our strength lies in unity
Where the guilty have no impunity
The innocent dead will rise and unite
With the Father in the Holy city
It is only the guilty oppressors without mercy that I pity

So now, I turn to the supernatural world
I have learned about through the words God has sent
For without the supernatural I could not write poetry about such a tragic event

Because' poetry is about “beauty”
As an Arabian poet who lived in New York once said
But those who look only at the natural world are bound to see, what is ugly instead

You see in the natural world the innocent suffer as much as the guilty
And only through the infinite mercy and justice of God are the oppressed set free
And only through the eyes of the Creator, can the whole world see
The beauty of the peace that was meant to be
