Together Forever

by Katherine A Lee   Sep 9, 2004

My heart is aching, my heart is breaking
Torn between two worlds colliding
One of black and one of white
Always feeling the need to fight
Coming down hard on one another
Not seeing that the battle is with your brother
Not from womb but from the heart
So many forces drive us apart
Two lovers, one of black and one of white, join hands and start to pray
That even through battle, together they will stay
True to one another and to themselves
Use their newfound courage and break down the shelves
That separate us from each other
So we do not have to fight our brother
Now the two lovers, one of black and one of white, don't have to part
Since two people decided to get smart
By breaking down all the racial hatred
And while getting this all strait in their heads
The lovers freely take their vows together
So they can be with each other forever
