The Storm

by brandy   Sep 25, 2004

Dark clouds roll this way
As the trees around me start to sway
The lightning bolts have a sudden jolt
The thunder booms I?m filled with doom
The wind whistles as the rain trickles
While the skies pound the water drowns
It?s rising to my hips, I can touch it with my fingertips
I close my eyes real tight
And belt out a scream with all my might
I open my eyes
My room was disguised
Tears covered the picture I held in my hand
That once sat on top of my old nightstand
I couldn?t admit it was true
I couldn?t bear to lose you
To know you?re gone
The thought alone just can?t be drawn
The night was of the same kind
Replaying deep inside my mind
I told you not to get into the car
Because I knew you wouldn?t get far
When I saw the flashing lights
I ran out into the stormy night
To make sure the evil thoughts were lies
Yet, the shock still took me by surprise
The car wasn?t near intact
Your life was taken on impact
You lost control
And took a piece of my soul
I feel to my knees and wondered why
And placed my face in my palms and started to cry
You were my best friend
We actually were together till the very end
Taking my mind off that horrible occurrence
But you still give me assurance
That you?re still here
And your spirit will never disappear
You can have that piece of my soul to keep
But while thinking I cry myself to sleep
Your memory is kept within
I'll always dream of you again
