When They're Open

by Shay   Sep 25, 2004

When They're Open,
If you look closely,
You can see what makes Me....Me.
When They're Open,
If you look close enough,
You can see that I'm not that tough.
When They're Open
If you dare to look,
You can see what makes me cry,
What makes me dance,
What makes me laugh,
And what makes me smile.
When They're Open
And yours are too,
You can see my insecurity,
The uncertainty,
How I've been treated unjustly,
All the disappointments,
All the arguments,
And ultimately....
The Heartaches.
When They're Open
And you only took a peek,
You would see the transparency of my soul,
The love and pain in my heart,
The expectations that have been forced upon me after an
Unplanned,
Unexpected,
Unwanted,
And equally
Devastating loss of a mother
So not only do I grieve for myself,
But also for a brother.
When They're Open
And if you even bothered to glance,
You would see all the
Negativity,
Regrets,
Demands,
And all the pain of my past.
When They're Open
If you dare to look....
If you even care to see,
Maybe...Just maybe,
You'll see the Real Me!!
But I keep them closed tight
They're Closed when the sun rises in the east
And They're Closed when it sets in the west.
They're Closed as I
Walk,
Talk,
Eat,
Drink,
Breathe,
And Sing.
They're Closed as I
Dance,
Sleep,
Kiss,
Pray,
and even as I Make Love.
They're Closed to all the creatures on the land,
They're Closed to all the creatures of the sea
They're Closed tight because I fear when I open them....
You just may see....
THE REAL ME!!
