That Night

by Nat-a-Tat   Sep 29, 2004

I remember it now as if it were yesterday
A night of big partying
No worries thrown my way

I was young, merely fifteen
Innocent, and infatuated with you
A night to remember
A feeling so true

All of our friends were there
My memories so vivid and so bright
We hung out the whole party
Held hands the whole night

It was something so simple
Not hard to explain
But as I held your hand for the first time
I felt happy, but strange

You were my good friend
But we both had too much to drink
You were a perfect gentleman the whole time
Even though I couldn't think

Your hand so warm and soft
It fit perfectly with mine
It seemed so normal
With our fingers intertwined.

It wasn't obscene or grotesque
Not appalling nor immature
It was adolescence at it's purest
Our act entirely demure

It was a night I will remember
A memory I don't regret
A thought that makes me smile
A party I will never forget.
