Waiting

by SamiJo   Oct 12, 2004

I look out my bedroom window, and gaze up at the stars.
I listen to the crickets chirping, and the passing cars.
I fondly remember one night, not too very long ago.
Standing in waves up to our knees, while you held me close.
We stood there for a long time, having a drunken conversation.
You said you wanted to marry me without a bit of hesitation.
Gazing in your green eyes, and running my fingers through your curls,
I wondered if you said this to just any other girls.
We stared up into the moonlight, I thought I saw you smile
I knew that whatever we went through would surely be worthwhile.
We always seem to talk about the future, I realize it isn't that far away
There's so many things I want to do first, So many things I need to say.
Soon enough I will have to leave, I've got to go to school...
I can't stay around here forever and become another burnout fool...
I hope you'll understand, and stay right by my side,
And before you even know it, I'll become your bride.
I want to make you happy every way I possibly can,
but I've got to get myself on track and figure out my plan.
I can't wait to spend forever wrapped in your embrace.
I can't wait to wake up every morning looking at your sweet face.
But before I get too wrapped up, all I really need to know...
Will you wait for me or will you just let me go?
