Goodbye

by Nicholas   Oct 15, 2004

Early this morning
I woke to see,
that you were no longer
lying next to me.
I rose and searched
new terror to tell,
All of your things
were gone as well.

On the kitchen table
I found a note.
It's contents brought
Sobs to my throat.
It said, " I'm sorry darling,
I cannot stay.
I cannot keep living
My life this way."

What kind of life
Are you living with me?
When loving and kindness
is all you can see.
You know not what's good
Nor what happiness is
But if not in my arms,
I hope you find it in his.

So alone I am forced
To continue my life
You walked out the door
without saying goodbye
I just have to wonder
because I can't believe
That I am the person
Who caused you to leave.
