Life in School

by Rachel Boydstun   Oct 16, 2004

What's happened to the world today, I really couldn't begin to tell,
All the things in school's going on makes me just want to yell.
Students harass other students, always putting down,
They have no respect for others unless you wear the "social crown".
Kids are so afraid to be themselves they just hide behind a mask,
A mask of someone who the kids will think is "cool" so no need to harass.
You should speak the right lingo and wear the right clothes,
Or else people will talk and gossip behind your back, about what all, who knows?
People make fun of your body short, tall, fat, or thin
Better associate with the right people or hear "your friends with him?!"
If you're fat you're called a whale, if you're thin you're called a stick,
There's always bound to be something wrong, what you wear, how you talk, who your friends are, take your pick!
Why can’t we all just get along? No need to make someone feel left out.
Don't kids know what they’re doing?! Some kids get so harassed they bring a gun to school and empty the bullets with a shout!
This world is no where near perfect we’re always judging others based on what we see.
It's time we learned the meaning of "don't judge a book by its cover" and just let the people be!
So the way they talk is different, they come from a "bad" background, or don't wear nice clothes bought at the right place.
We need to back off and let people grow at their own pace!
I guess what exactly it is I am trying to say,
Just let people be themselves in their own special way.
