There Was a Little Girl

by Sarah   Nov 2, 2004

*This was a poem I had to write for an English assignment. We had to do an autobiography in third person....hope you enjoy!*

There was a little girl, who lived day by day,
She learned what was good and bad and the right things to say.
She dreamed of being a pretty little princess and a beautiful bride,
She wanted to be a mermaid but found out she couldn't’t, and cried.

This little girl grew up in a loving and caring household,
Listened to her parents and did almost everything she was told.
Respected her grandparents and loved them with all her being,
Who would’ve thought that being young was so freeing?

She remembers the family picnics and her grandma’s finger Jell-O,
Her fifty-million cousins, aunts and uncles, and always having to say hello.
Graying hair, laughter, all of their smiling eyes,
Picnics start in the morning and end too soon, oh how time flies.

This little girl remembers at school, when all of the boys,
Had cooties and germs, so she wouldn't share her toys.
She remembers in middle school her first real love,
He broke her heart for another girl when push came to shove.

She knows what pain is, when she lost her best friend in 8th grade,
Stopped talking to her for no reason, she knew the friendship had started to fade.
High school came and in freshman year,
The same exact thing happened, which was her number one fear.

Abandoned once again by her two best friends,
When they left, it felt like her life was coming to an end.
The one person who was there was the first person to leave her life,
Her first real crush from middle school came back, and she was his “wife”.

But still things had gone bad, and she lost sight of the light,
She was depressed and lonely, and she had her parents began to fight.
The year passed by so painfully slow,
She had no one to run to and no where to go.

The next year came with only Him as her crutch,
She felt he was the only one that could ever love her that much.
He helped her find purpose in life, and not a moment too soon
She could feel happiness, like a flower, slowly begin to bloom.
