Now and Forever

I've written so many poems
For sure, that you can see
But there's something you should know
They weren't just written for thee

Most of them were for my FIRST love
The one you do not compare to
I was thinking of him all this time
But you didn't have a clue, did you?

Now that you're out of my life
I feel like I'm free again
Maybe I'm not ready to love
But I know I don't want YOUR love

I've been getting many calls
From the people of my past
And it feels great to know
That our friendships did really last

But as for you and I
There will never be such friendships
Cuz what I want to do
Is never to have a part of you

Neither as friends
Nor even as lovers
So help me make that change
As of now and forever
